First Aid for Snake Bite

Keep the person calm and limit movement to slow venom spread.

Steps

  1. Step 1. Move away from the snake and keep the person still and calm.
  2. Step 2. Call emergency services or arrange urgent transport to a hospital.
  3. Step 3. Immobilize the bitten limb with a splint; keep it at heart level.
  4. Step 4. Remove rings, bangles, or tight clothing before swelling worsens.
  5. Step 5. Do not cut, suck, or apply ice to the bite.
  6. Step 6. Do not apply a tight tourniquet unless advised by trained professionals.
